Jukka Perko

Jukka Perko (b.1968) rose to the public's awareness at the 1986 Pori Jazz Festival. Back then, the performances of the then 18-year-old teenager, who had been studying jazz saxophone and Charlie Parker's music on his own, received glowing reviews, and his career took off like a rocket almost by accident.

The following year, Perko's skills as a bebop jazz virtuoso were put to the test when he was recruited to join Dizzy Gillespie's 70th Anniversary Big Band, where he played for two years in Europe and the United States. Since then, Perko has performed as a soloist and with his bands in over 30 countries on all continents.

Holger Marjamaa Trio feat. Kalevi "Aceman" Louhivuori

Holger Marjamaa was born (September 27, 1992) in Tallinn, Estonia and raised in a musical family.

At a very young age, he started to imitate and sing classical jazz compositions which his older brother or mother were practicing, soon enough he was playing these piano pieces on the piano by ear, of course with an improvisational extra.

With a busy schedule, Marjamaa was mainly touring with a Grammy Award Winning trumpeter Chris Botti (2019-2023). Marjamaa's solo career has taken off in a fast tempo and he gives many solo concerts all over the world, also he tours regularly with his European trio (Jussi Lehtonen (dr) Heikko Remmel (b) and with his American Trio (Lee Pearson II (dr) Alex Claffy (b))

Kalevi Louhivuori & Susanna Aleksandra Quartet

Singer-songwriter Susanna Aleksandra and pianist Joonas Haavisto began their collaboration in 2018. These two musicians share a vision of creating music where intricate harmonies, meaningful lyrics, and strong melodies come together in multiple layers. It is important for them to let the music dictate the direction; sometimes it chooses a simple path, other times a more complex one.

In the quartet's music, under the umbrella of modern jazz, influences from traditional jazz, classical and popular music, as well as folk, converge. The quartet's album "Souls of the Night" was released in Japan in March 2020. Eclipse Music released the album for international distribution in spring 2021 under the title "The Siren," which is an updated version of the "Souls of the Night" material.

Estonian singer Susanna Aleksandra has been living and studying in Finland since 2015. In spring 2021, she graduated as a Master of Music from the Jazz Department of the Sibelius Academy.

Kaira-Yhtye

Behind the KAIRA band, there is an intriguing combination of leading music and cultural influencers. The band's concept is exceptional. Once a decade, a group of top jazz musicians join forces to create an album's worth of new Finnish jazz. The lineup of the band varies according to the music genre, and the media has dubbed it the "super team of Finnish jazz".

The band released its debut album, "KAIRA - URBAN SAGAS OF NORTHERN CITIES," in April 2017 (Svart Records 2017). The album alternates between delicate ballads and cheerful groove tunes, sometimes evoking the nostalgic atmosphere of the "Villi Pohjola" series. The theme of the album, "Urban Sagas of Northern Cities," is quite cinematic. The album features Markus Niittynen (piano, synthesizers), Jussi Lehtonen (drums, percussion), Sampo Tiittanen (bass, electric bass), Joonatan Rautio (saxophone), Nina Mya (vocals), and Sam Huber (vocals).

In 2024, KAIRA released a new album titled "AIR". This album features modern Finnish instrumental jazz. The album includes Markus Niittynen (piano), Heikko Remmel (bass), Jussi Lehtonen (drums), Abdissa Assefa (percussion), Timo Lassy (saxophone, flute), Kalevi Louhivuori (trumpet, flugelhorn), and Kasperi Sarikoski (trombone).

Maja Mannila Trio feat Kalevi "Aceman" Louhivuori

Maja Mannila is a young and impressive jazz/soul singer, pianist and composer. Together with her band she performs her own songs in English, in a style combining r'n'b, soul, jazz and gospel. She grew up in a musician family and has a steady grip of musicianship, but at the same time she points out the importance of freedom and fun when it comes to creating and playing music. In the future Mannila strives towards recording and performing internationally both with her ensemble and as solo artist. Maja's talent has also been spotted by English drummer Richard Spaven and singer Anthony Strong, who have invited Maja to perform with them. In Maja Mannila Trio she plays together with Severi Sorjonen (drums) and Johannes Granroth (bass). Maja Mannila Trio was selected for the 2023 Nordic Jazz Comets event to represent Finnish new jazz. Internationally the band has performed in Germany, Slovenia, England and Estonia. In April 2023, Maja also performed two concerts as soloist with the Kaunas Big Band in Lithuania with her own material. Maja is also a member of the young and rising ensemble Peela. In 2021-22 Maja played and singed in pianist Iiro Rantala's new trio Flock which toured in Central Europe.
